What's the talk about?

Neuroscience is is attracting students in droves and receiving unprecedented coverage in the mainstream media. But why should those of us outside the field care?

In this talk, Dr. Ginger Campbell, host of the popular Brain Science Podcast, will discuss why she thinks discoveries in neuroscience have the potential to have an impact rivaling that of Darwin's discovery of evolution by natural selection.

Dr. Campbell will discuss how these recent discoveries are changing how we see ourselves and each other, as well as our relationship to other species. She will explore how these discoveries are challenging many long-standing beliefs and encourage the audience to begin considering the ethical implications of neuroscientific advances. For example, in in the medical arena these discoveries offer hope, but also the prospect for new choices regarding issues such as mental performance enhancement.
Dr. Ginger Campbell is an emergency physician from Alabama (USA). She is the founder and host of two long-running podcasts: Books and Ideas and the Brain Science Podcast. She is also the founder of SCIENCEPODCASTERS.ORG, the website that promotes science podcasts of all sizes.
